Unions legal in IoM but not recognised in UK

Claire Beale and Martin Loat have been together for 25 years, and wanted a way to have their union recognised, particularly in legal terms, without having to get married.
Their civil partnership won't be recognised in the UK for now, but Martin doesn't think that will deter others from following suit.
