Ceremony takes place this evening
The 16th NatWest Island Games open in Jersey this evening.
Howard Davis Park in the capital St. Helier is the venue for the opening ceremony which starts at 7pm.
Most of the details are being kept secret but water will play a central theme as usual.
All 24 competing nations have one thing in common - they are island surrounded by water.
Each island will bring water from home which will then be poured into a central water feature.
The Isle of Man water carrier is traditionally the youngest member of the of the team.
The honour this time will be performed by swimmer Emma Hodgson . . who told Tim Glover she didn't know that she was performing the role until very recently:
