The Island does have a "significant problem" with young people self harming.
That's the belief of the Consultant Psychiatrist at CAMHS - the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service on the Island.
Derek Proudlove was responding to a report from the Children's Society in the UK which claimed nearly 25% of 14 year old girls self-harm and suggested there was a "crisis in children's mental health" in the UK.
Mr Proudlove says whilst he doesn't believe the situation on the Island is as bad as that in the UK, he's unable to confirm this as figures aren't available . .
