42 cases reported in a year
The Island has hit record levels in 2016 for stranded megafauna like seals, dolphins and porpoise.
According to the Manx Wildlife Trust, 42 cases were reported over the last year, compared to 15 in 2015, and 26 in 2014.
It records numbers of creatures washed up on the beaches to better understand species distribution in Manx waters.
The Trust say the high numbers could be due to recent storms, with unusual cases of an otter and some loggerhead turtles being found.
The charity has over twenty volunteers investigating stranded marine life, and is appealing to the Manx public for more help to undertake the work.
