Dr Taylor OBE invented the kettle thermostat
A Manx resident and prolific inventor has donated £2.5 million to inspire the next generation of British innovators.
Dr John Taylor OBE says the money, pledged to the University of Cambridge, will be used to encourage science and engineering students to pursue 'blue-sky thinking'.
Although over 400 patents are filed in his name, Dr Taylor is best known for inventing the kettle thermostat - which is used in billions of appliances around the globe.
He says the money will reap benefits:
