Athletics stalwart, 60, dies suddenly
The Island athletics community has been stunned after one of the key figures in the sport passed away.
Murray Lambden, who died suddenly yesterday at the age of 60, was working over the weekend covering the Easter Festival of Running in Port Erin, on Peel Hill and Douglas Promenade taking photographs and video.
He administered the Manx Athletics and Parish Walk websites, which were filled with history and photos.
Murray was also widely considered a fine competitor and represented the Island at the 1982 Commonwealth Games in Brisbane in the 30km Walk when he finished eighth.
Friend and colleague in the athletics scene, Ray Cox, says it’s shattering news.
