Claim 'disincentives' for families the cause
A local author on population trends says current data suggests numbers on the Island have in fact fallen since 2011.
Paul Craine is the author of the Manx Population Atlas.
He was responding to predictions made by the Chamber of Commerce last week, that there are fewer people here than five years ago.
The Chamber blamed in part, an overly restrictive work permit system.
However, Mr Craine believes it's down to decreasing incentives for young families to live here.
He explains how the figures have changed since 2011's Island-wide census:
