The Department of Health is warning people of an outbreak of Measles in Northern England.
So far there have been 40 confirmed cases from Heysham and Morecambe, with 46 confirmed cases and 50 suspected cases in North East England since September 2012
The majority of cases are in children.
The Department says Measles is extremely infectious and children who are not immunised are at a high risk of developing the illness.
Director of Public Health,Dr Parameshwaran Kishore, says so far there have been no cases on the Isle of Man and they want to keep it that way.
The Department says two doses of MMR vaccine will give a high degree of protection.
Parents are being asked to ensure that their child has had the recommended doses and if not to make an appointment with the GP for vaccination.
Anyone who thinks their child has measles should NOT attend A & E, MEDS or the GP's surgery. If medical advice is required you should phone your local surgery.
