Charity makes a return three years after being wound up
Isle of Pride is officially back.
Three years after wrapping up, a new board has been formed to take over the running of the charity going forward.
It stopped operating in 2022 after unplanned protests at its last Pride event and also amid questions about LGBTQ+ representation on its previous committee.
New director, James Cherry says they hope they've addressed some of those concerns with the new structure:
The first event the charity is involved with is 'Pride on the Quay' in Douglas on 30 August and it's also hoping to bring back a Pride event in 2026.
Meanwhile, Isle of Pride is also hoping to co-ordinate a year-round outreach programme called 'Chree' which will deliver education and training initiatives.
Organisers say they took a step back to 'reaffirm their goals' following the 2022 event, before appointing the new board in September 2024.
They've been working to relaunch the charity since then, and hope to be a voice for the LGBTQ+ community on the Island going forward.
