President supportive of demonstrations on national day
It's right that the Island's national day be a space for protest as well as pageantry, according to the President of Tynwald.
Last year, pro-choice campaigners held a silent protest dressed as the 'Handmaids', inspired by Margaret Atwood's dystopian novel 'The Handmaid's Tale' to push for changes to the Island's abortion legislation.
Speaking ahead of this year's ceremony, Mr Rodan has highlighted the historic importance of Tynwald Day as a place where dissenting views have been aired.
He says it's right these expressions of opposition took place at the Island's 'spiritual home':

Tynwald to revisit rates bill after the election
Douglas Council to install temporary play area in Marine Gardens
First risk assessment on proliferation financing published
Third candidate declares for Douglas North
