Viewing before sunrise recommended
Isle of Man residents will be able to view Jupiter and Venus over the next few days.
Known as a 'planetary conjuncture' the two planets will appear close to one another to the naked eye.
This is one of two events which should be visible from the Island this week along with the Perseids meteor shower.
Astronomer Howard Parkin says the best time to view the event will be well before sunrise and explains where in the sky to look for them:
