Advocate says changes not necessary
An Island advocate says the Isle of Man’s jury system is not broken and doesn’t need fixing.
In Tynwald this week, East Douglas MHK Chris Robertshaw will call for a committee to be formed to examine the operation of the jury structure.
Mr Robertshaw is uncomfortable with use of a seven-person jury in the majority of local cases, as opposed to a 12-person one.
However, Terence McDonald says the system does not need examining and is questioning why the issue is being raised now:
