'Urgent action' needed to rescue charity on brink of closure
A JustGiving page has been set up in an attempt to save the Family Library.
The charity is set to close on 31 July, citing rising costs.
The new campaign by The Friends of the Family Library aims to raise enough funds to keep the services going.
The library doesn't just provide books, but a mobile library serving the rural areas of the Island, a home service, and bibliotherapy to 17 residential and care homes.
It's received government funding in recent years through the Bona Vacantia Fund, which began in 2022 from the Treasury on a sliding-scale agreement which began at £125,000 and will reduce to £65,00 in 2026.
Following the directors' announcement last month, Tynwald was told the Department of Education, Sport and Culture is 'unable to offer additional financial support'.

The Friends of the Family Library says the current shortfall means 'urgent action' is needed to secure the library's survival.
