Advice issued by coastguard after palm oil washed ashore
Dog owners are being advised not to walk their pets at Garwick Beach over the next few days after palm oil washed up there.
The beach was closed for a time yesterday after the substance was found on the shore.
The Isle of Man Coastguard says as much of the substance as possible has been recovered, but small particles do remain.
While the beach is no longer closed, the coastguard recommends keeping dogs away from the area until the tide has had the chance to disperse the fragments over the coming days.
Palm oil can cause dehydration from vomiting and diarrhoea if eaten by dogs.
