Moorhouse wants Castletown's cultural heritage protected
An Arbory, Castletown and Malew MHK has warned government against 'penny pinching' at the risk of losing a national asset.
Jason Moorhouse says Castletown's old police station should remain in public hands via Manx National Heritage and be protected as a site of cultural importance.
The registered building, designed by Baillie Scott, has been offered on the open market by Treasury.
An offer by MNH to take care of the station had been rejected, after the charity was unprepared to meet Treasury's financial demands.
Mr Moorhouse has tabled an emergency question for Tynwald next week to discuss the issue - he says selling the site would be 'crazy':
