Plans to shut MLCs out wins favour
Members of the House of Keys have overwhelmingly supported a bid to ban the Legislative Council from electing a future chief minister.
The motion, brought forward by Policy and Reform Minister Chris Thomas, echoes one of the recommendations put forward in the Lisvane Report.
Seventeen of the 21 members present voted in favour of the plans, which will now go before Tynwald.
