Douglas man was sentenced on Tuesday
A Douglas man who 'just snapped' and brandished knives at his neighbours has been jailed.
James Brent Druggan Fitzgerald, of Woodville Terrace, appeared in court for sentencing yesterday (Tue).
The court heard how a long-running dispute over noise had led to the 45 year-old 'just snapping' on Friday, 14 July.
After consuming eight cans of lager, he was photographed by frightened neighbours waving a number of blades - but advocates insisted he was 'not a violent man' and there was never any intent to use them.
Giving Fitzgerald credit for his early guilty plea, Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes said she was encouraged by his desire to put the incident behind him and move out of the property.
But she added she had no choice but to send him to prison, and sentenced him to 12 weeks.
He will also be liable to pay £125 in costs.
