World champion injured in training
Motorcross rider David Knight has been hospitalised after a crash on Jurby beach.
The four time world champion was training on the sand in preparation for the Weston Beach race in October.
Knight landed sideways after coming off a jump and was thrown off his bike head first, before breaking ribs and two vertabrae in his back.
Getting an ambulance crew down to the beach proved tricky, but he eventually taken to hospital.
Knight, who praised the medical staff at Nobles, said the injuries will probably slow him down for a bit, but is fully motivated to get back and be as strong as possible.
Taking to instagram Knight who received an MBE from the Queen in 2011, said he was 'disappointed this has happened when I have felt so strong and motivated but most of all I feel very, very lucky that I’ll make a full recovery as it could easily have been a very different story'
