85-year-old convicted of Knottfield abuse
An 85-year-old man has been convicted of sexually abusing two boys whilst they were in his care at a children’s home on the Isle of Man.
Joseph Henry Marshall was today, at Douglas Courthouse, found guilty of five offences - three of indecent assault and two of gross indecency.
He targeted the two children, who were both under the age of 16, at the Knottfield children’s home in Douglas, in the 1970s, after calling them into the staff office.

Today a jury found him guilty of the five offences but cleared him of a further four charges against a third complainant.
They were three indecent assault charges and one of buggery.
After delivering the verdicts the jury was told Marshall had previous convictions for sexually abusing children at Knottfield.
In 1992 he was sentenced to three years in prison after being convicted of 13 offences of indecent assault.
