Penultimate delegation full of praise
Members of a provincial Pakistani parliament have hailed trips to Tynwald for helping to 'strengthen legislative process'.
The penultimate delegation of politicians from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly (KPA) visited the Island this month, as part of a British-Council sponsored capacity-building programme.
By the end of this year almost all of the KPA's 124 members will have come for 'parliamentary exposure, and training sessions', arranged by the Clerk of Tynwald's Office.
Mr Akbar Ayub Khan, a ministerial advisor from the KPA, says the emerging parliament has been constrained by tribal influences, party politics and a strong military presence.
He hopes members can learn from the 'smooth operation' of Tynwald's legislative and scrutiny processes.
