Designed to regulate private housing market
The infrastructure minister claims a bill designed to regulate the private housing market is now 'in good shape'.
A significant number of amendements have been tabled for the Landlord Registration Bill as the House of Keys sits to consider clauses today (30 March).
The Manx Landlords Association, which criticised the draft legislation for being unfairly weighted in favour of tenants, gave evidence to the house last week.
As part of the changes the penalty regime has been refinied, with custodial sentences removed, while timescales for responses have been standardised.
The deposit protection scheme described in the bill has also been made mandatory.
