Potential wind farm off eastern coast receives praise from commissioners chairman
The Chairman of Laxey village commissioners says the news of a potential wind farm in Manx waters is a positive step for the Island.
Andrew Moore would be able to see the 100 turbines, between six and twelve miles of the eastern coast, from his home in Laxey - and says it's a long overdue development.
Dong Energy has signed a lease agreement with the Manx government to assess the area of seabed for the installation.
The deal could be worth £5 million a year to the Isle of Man.
Mr Moore says he doesn't expect much opposition to the plans from Laxey residents.
