Today marks five years since devastating damage
A multi-million-pound project to improve river defences and install new storm drains in Laxey is continuing.
Today (1 October) marks five years to the day that flooding on Glen Road caused catastrophic damage to homes in the area.
Some properties are still undergoing repair and some homeowners are still facing issue with trying to get insurance – either being refused cover or being faced with huge premiums.
Garff MHK Andrew Smith, who lives on Glen Road, told Manx Radio he’s disappointed there are still individuals having problems getting affordable insurance:
