Currently sewage is pumped into the sea
There are still 'ongoing negotiations' over a new sewage plant in Laxey.
That's the message from the Chair of Manx Utilities.
At a meeting of Garff Commissioners on this week, Tim Johnstone said that he would 'desperately' like to update the commissioners.
£40 million has been allocated towards the development of sewage plants, with £17 million set aside for Laxey.
Originally the sewage plant was due to be ready in time for the 2025 bathing season.
But the commissioners expressed their concerns that it was taking too long.
However in the meeting Mr Johnstone said: "We are still working in reasonable time frames.
"Working in the national interest to stop raw sewage going into our seas. That is what our aim is, to do this in the most effective way possible."
