Islanders warned alcohol 'increases risk of arguments'
'Don't drink on an empty stomach' and 'drink plenty of water' are among the tips being offered to festive revellers in a new government-sponsored leaflet.
The common-sense pointers will be handed out to the public over the Christmas period.
A joint effort between the Police, Public Health Directorate and Bus Vannin, the leaflet provides guidance on responsible merrymaking, getting home safely and protecting yourself.
It also carries the warning that alcohol can cloud judgement and 'increase the risk of arguments or violence'.
Police say they're expecting a busy festive season - with a handful of partygoers having already been arrested for drink-related offences in recent weeks.
