MLCs sit for penultimate sitting before summer recess
Members of the Legislative Council have been considering a bill which looks at local authority members' conflicts of interest.
The Local Government (Amendment) Bill 2023 seeks to improve the operations of the Island's commissioners.
It's now passed the Principles Stage.
An amendment was moved by recently-elected MLC Kirstie Morphet which will see the bill moved next to an evidence phase, primarily as a result of lobbying from local authorities related to a new clause (Clause 5) introduced in the House of Keys.
