Minister to return with proposal next month
Tynwald members will get another chance to vote on paying for parking spaces next month – after Legislative Council members defeated proposals last night.
During Tuesday’s sitting, members were asked to approve Department of Infrastructure plans to have all staff and members pay for their parking spaces in places where the public would normally have to.
After an hour and a half of discussion, the House of Keys approved the measures (17 for, six against): only to see the Legislative Council vote against them (three for, six against).
Infrastructure Minister Phil Gawne, who’ll bring the item back for a combined vote next month, wasn’t shy about venting his frustration during the debate:
