LegCo to consider Assisted Dying clauses during evidence stage

And it's a packed question paper for the House of Keys too!

The Legislative Council will consider the clauses of the Assisted Dying Bill today (26 November).

The evidence stage of the process is due to start at 10am.

MLC Peter Greenhill will table a motion to suspend Standing Orders so that his colleagues can discuss the clauses and any proposed amendments.

Meanwhile in the House of Keys MHKs will examine a 21-question order paper.

There are four ‘starred’ questions around Manx Care’s finances, Crogga, resurfacing work on a housing estate in Colby and how the money spent on an offshore wind farm project.

Other questions listed for answer centre around possible ‘inconsistency’ over the handling of questions in previous sittings, property transactions, and an Ofsted report into children’s services.

Arbory, Castletown and Malew MHK Jason Moorhouse will also query whether the chief minister has had discussions about national defences with the UK Prime Minister.

This following reports a Russian vessel entering the waters off the Isle of Man.

The new Health and Social Care Minister Claire Christian is also set to answer her first question in a ministerial capacity about plans for the delivery of the shingles vaccine.

After questions two bills will get their first reading – the Income Tax Bill 2024 and Statute Law Revision (Amendment) Bill 2024.

The Charities Registration and Regulation (Amendment) Bill 2024 is also set to receive its third reading.
