Lloyd-Webber endorsement is reminder of cultural significance
Celebrity endorsements are all well and good, according to a Manx heritage enthusiast - but they aren't going to save our culture.
Charles Guard has been responding to a glowing review of the Island's historic buildings from British theatre legend Andrew Lloyd-Webber last week.
The impresario recently told BBC Radio 2 DJ Steve Wright about a flying visit to the Isle of Man during TT, which included a tour of the Gaiety Theatre and Castle Mona Hotel.
But could multi-millionaire Lord Lloyd-Webber be convinced to sink some of his fortune into preserving the ageing structures?
Mr Guard says we ought to appreciate our own attractions a little more first:
Smile of Mann programme to start in primary schools next year
Loganair passengers yet to be reunited with bags left in Manchester on Sunday
Kirk Michael man taking on 31 marathons in 31 days in memory of friend
Government grant partially funded fishing vessel later used for smuggling
