It was one of the topics discussed at its public meeting last night
Lezayre Commissioners is asking the members of the Northern Civic Amenity Site committee to urge the Department of Infrastructure to delay the creation of a formal board.
The local authority believes that Bride Commissioners is still unhappy with the cost of the NCAS and wants to encourage the DoI to try and find a resolution with all the local authorities.
Chair Karl Brew told the board that the issues with Bride Commissioners need to be resolved before a formal board is made.
The new NCAS board, to replace the informal committee, is created by Tynwald and has protections under legislation – it’s expected that all seven northern authorities would join the board.
Mr Brew said a template letter should be sent to each of the authorities with the request the DoI try and find a solution to Bride Commissioners' concerns about the financial implications.
He added that trying to start afresh with a board wouldn’t work with the ongoing situation with Bride.
The board agreed unanimously to send the template to the other local authorities.
The DoI has been approached for comment.
Also on the agenda was a discussion about the next round of hedge trimming and street sweeping around the parish.
Clerk Lynn Smith said a request had been made for the commissioners to cut back the full length of Andreas Road, Tholt Y Will and a small road in The Dhoor.
She also said a resident has put a sign up on a hedge asking for it not to be cut back – which she confirmed she is looking into.
The board also agreed to hire a roadsweeper once all the hedge cutting is complete.
Lezayre Commissioners will next meet on Thursday 6 August.
