Chair Karl Brew says he has concerns about charging residents for the job
Lezayre Commissioners says the Department of Infrastructure is passing the task of cutting back trees and hedges on main roads in the parish to property owners.
The local authority also has concerns that it will be contracted to cut trees and hedges over two metres which also used to be carried out by the DoI - and would have to charge residents for this.
The commissioners are currently responsible for cutting back hedges before and after nesting season, but will carry it out if it becomes a road safety issue.
Chair Karl Brew says it's 'interesting' that the government has chosen to change the scheme now and hasn't been given a reason for it.
