Employers should 'stand up and be counted'
LibVan will call on Tynwald members this month to support a voluntary living wage.
A motion on the matter is being tabled by party member and Ramsey MHK Lawrie Hooper.
He says the plans, which would provide a benchmark for local businesses to set their pay rates, would allow employers to 'stand up and be counted'.
A living wage is calculated based on the minimum cost of living in a given area.
Mr Hooper believes the figure - which is currently pegged at £7.85 per hour in the UK - would 'support people working hard to grow our Island economy'.
The court sits next Tuesday, 17 January.
