Reports of plane crashing into sea
Port St Mary lifeboat was involved in an ultimately fruitless search for an aircraft yesterday.
She was called out by Belfast coastguard at 9.30am after reports an aircraft had gone off the radar 10 miles west of Port St Mary.
The all-weather boat went out, along with a lifeboat from Northern Ireland, and there was a large coaster on the scene along with a helicopter.
Nothing was found however and she returned to the port six hours later.
