Low-income families are over-represented in services
Manx Care says people on low incomes are disproportionately represented in its mental health caseload.
Head of Mental Health Ross Bailey warns that poverty and poor housing are major drivers of demand.
He revealed the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service has seen its caseload almost double - rising by 96 percent since 2020.
However, since July 2024 (following the implementation of the THRIVE model) the waiting list has been halved from 1,181 to 599.
Mr Bailey pointed to research from the Commission on Young Lives as evidence of the link between deprivation and mental health.
