Views on "flawed logic"
A review of Lord Lisvane's Tynwald inquiry report has been published by an expert on Manx Public Law.
Professor Peter Edge is a lecturer at Oxford Brookes University - he posted his interpretation of the recommendations on the UK Constitutional Law Association online forum.
It takes the form of an overview of the functions of Tynwald - with a critical view on how it can be improved, and where Lord Lisvane's logic is flawed.
Election of the Chief Minister, scrutiny roles, departmental membership, and focus on diversity in the House of Keys were all topics up for discussion.
Professor Edge says the current system isn't ideal:
Growing frustrations as bus strikes resume
DoI 'committed' to reaching agreement with bus drivers
Fluoride varnish programme rolled out in Island schools in bid to reduce levels of tooth decay in children
Tynwald 'in a good place' for gender balance compared to other jurisdictions
