Chamber issue warning
The president of the Chamber of Commerce has warned small Island firms face job losses if a national living wage is introduced over here.
It comes as Tynwald members unanimously agreed to receive a report on proposals for the measure when they sat this week.
If implemented, companies may choose to adopt the initiative, paying an hourly rate of £8.61 per hour.
Payment of the wage is voluntary at this stage.
Government officials say it's calculated as a level of income allowing people to meet their basic needs, and to help them participate more fully in family and community life.
