Ramsey Commissioners have announced a rates freeze for the upcoming year.
The town’s board says it will keep its rates at 348p in the pound.
Lead member for finance Richard Radcliffe says the rate will absorb hikes in waste charges imposed by government and increased operating costs at the Northern District civic amenity site.
Mr Radcliffe says a full statement will be made at a public commissioners’ meeting at Ramsey Town Hall at 7pm on Wednesday, February 19.
Meanwhile, Port Erin Commissioners say the village’s rates will rise by 2.4 per cent this year.
The board says the rate will be 288p in the pound, an increase of 7p.
The commissioners say ratepayers are bearing the cost of rising waste disposal charges – this year 9.7p of the rate is needed to cover gate fees at the incinerator.
And the board estimates waste costs will add up to 10p each year for the next four years.
