
A former commissioner is urging Island local authorities to 'take the lead' over local government reform.
Brian Stowell led Onchan’s reduction from a 10-strong board to seven while he was chairman in 2008.
However, a further proposed reduction to five members failed.
Mr Stowell has welcomed a decision to cut the number of Castletown Commissioners at the next election in four years time.
He says other authorities need to follow suit.
