Bon Fabrics reintroduces Manx National Tartan
A local retailer is bringing back the Island's woven Tartan back to shelves.
Manx National Tartan, not to be confused with Laxey Tartan, was designed by Patricia McQuaid in 1958, following a competition to create a Tartan which represented the Isle of Man.
It features seven colours instead of Laxey's five, which meant it was unable to be manufactured on a large scale due to most mills being unable to handle more than six colours.
Patricia's design is said to be inspired by the colours of the Island.
The patterned woollen cloth is in stock at Bon Fabrics in Strand Street, decades after last being made available to the public.
