Shark sighting down south
Two local rowers got more than they bargained for on a boat trip this week.
Jen Kneale and Wendy Stevens were sailing in their 10 foot vessel off Bradda Head when a huge basking shark - described as at least 30 feet long - paid them a visit.
Dramatic footage posted online shows a dorsal fin sticking out of the water, before the giant mammal comes within inches of them.
The pair say they briefly feared they 'might be on the menu' before the gentle creature swam away peacefully.
Basking sharks are a more common sight off the Manx coast during the summer months.
Jackie Hall from Manx Basking Shark Watch is keen for anyone who sees one to get in touch.
