Union head highlights major issue
Locum doctors have formed a monopoly at Noble's Hospital and are hampering efforts to recruit and make savings says a union head.
In the House of Keys yesterday (19 Dec) the difficulty of hiring and retaining doctors in the Island’s health service was raised - it was revealed that 34 posts were vacant at the end of last month.
There are six salaried locum positions.
Health Minister Kate Beecroft has previously said her department's overspend was 'largely down to the number of locums' working at the hospital.
