
The Island’s Lord Bishop says he’s disappointed after the Church of England rejected the introduction of women bishops.
Robert Paterson was one of 324 synod members who yesterday (Tuesday) voted in favour of women bishops.
However, a complicated system meant they fell six votes short of making the change.
As church leaders prepare to deal with the fallout, the Bishop denies the decision makes the church less credible:
