No overnight changes to Tynwald after report
The man who carried out a far-reaching review of the Island’s parliamentary system says he doesn’t expect all his recommendations to be put into place immediately.
Lord Lisvane was speaking about his report after it emerged Chief Minister Allan Bell will ask Tynwald to receive it but not debate its contents until after the next general election.
It says there are too many departmental members, too few women in the court, and there should be wholesale change to the way Legislative Council is elected.
But Lord Lisvane says he wasn’t expecting any immediate change:
