Association issues advice for revellers
The Island's publicans and hoteliers are getting together to offer advice about safe drinking over the festive period.
The Licensed Victuallers Association has issued a 'Festive Five Pointer' to help revelers during Christmas celebrations.
LVA Chairman Andy Saunders says lots of people will be out and about in the next few weeks - and often drinking more than usual - and they want to help ensure people have a safe, happy and enjoyable time.
The LVA says they want everyone to have fun when out - but a few simple measures can ensure you don't regret your actions the next day.
Their five bullet points include drinking in moderation, booking a taxi in advance or getting pub staff to order a cab for you and not trying to drink faster than you want to, just to keep up with others.
They also suggest people should look out for one another, checking valuables and the safety of those who may have been over-imbibing.
It's suggested that revelers should stick to proper licensed premises where there are trained, sober and concerned people overseeing the environment.
