The chairman of the Isle of Man Licensed Victuallers’ Association says members are feeling the “cumulative impact” of rising costs day by day.
It comes after the Local Economy Forum warned that current economic and policy pressures are creating significant challenges for the Island’s hospitality sector.
Andrew Gibbs says that while fair pay is essential, sudden changes to wage structures can make it difficult for employers to balance costs with training and workforce development.
He adds that decisions which fail to consider the operational realities of hospitality businesses risk discouraging recruitment.
The LVA is calling for greater engagement between government and the private sector to develop evidence-based solutions that protect jobs, support workforce development and enable sustainable economic recovery for the Island.
