Emergency closure announced by DOI
Part of the main route between Peel and Douglas will be closed for several hours tomorrow (18 December).
It's so the Department of Infrastructure can fell several large trees adjacent to Greeba Castle.
The A1 will therefore be closed between the junction of Rhenny Mooar Lane and The Highlander from 9:30am to 3:30pm.
Peel bound traffic will be diverted at Braddan Bridge up Saddle Road towards the business park and then out towards Foxdale.
Douglas bound traffic will be diverted at Ballacraine towards Foxdale and then down Mines Road to Braaid and then straight across to the Business Park.
The DOI says there will also be a secondary diversion at Glen Darragh, sending cars out towards Braaid there, to capture that traffic, but 'the aim is to get the majority of traffic turned off at Braddan Bridge'.
Pedestrian and emergency access will not be maintained throughout the period of the closure.
