It says the area would become 'overdeveloped'
An application for a second phase of houses in Ballasalla was unsupported by Malew Commissioners on the grounds of ‘overdevelopment’ in the area.
The proposal from Dandara was seeking approval for 31 new homes in ‘phase two’ of its Reayrt Mie estate.
Malew Commissioners met this week along with Chief Constable Russ Foster.
He spoke to the commissioners about his background and what strategies the police have been implementing since he joined.
Mr Foster said he’s currently in consultation with the Department of Infrastructure about improving security at the Sea Terminal.
The police have also agreed to monitor a recent bout of anti-social behaviour which had been reported around Langness.
An application for a second phase of houses in Ballasalla on was unsupported by the commissioners on the grounds of ‘overdevelopment’ in the area.
Commissioner Barbara Bereton said the company has added on extra houses which weren’t in the original application.
She said it would be ‘very crammed’ if it went ahead.
There were also complaints raised about the lack of affordable housing in the development, with the extra houses asked for only adding 2 more under that bracket.
The new Captain of the Parish of Malew also attended and praised the local authority’s civic service, which also raised money for the hospice.
£830 will be donated and the commissioners agreed to go up to the hospice and present a big cheque to them.
