Police found hydroponic equipment at Port Erin address
A man will be sentenced next month after police uncovered a hydroponic cannabis setup in his Port Erin home.
Thirty-year-old Sean Thomas Patrick O’Neill of Church Road appeared at Douglas courthouse before magistrates.
He’s pleaded guilty to possessing cannabis and cultivating the class B drug at his home address on 22 January.
The court heard police raided his home and found two tents in O’Neill’s loft containing cannabis plants and seedlings.
In total, officers found 11 cannabis plants as well as a small amount of cannabis resin, a book about growing cannabis and a large amount of cultivation equipment.
Prosecution advocate Rebecca Cubbon told the court in total, the plants would have yielded thousands of pounds worth of the drug once harvested.
During interview at police headquarters, O’Neill said the plants were his but denied planning to sell the drugs, saying he’d grown them for his own personal use.
Magistrates adjourned the hearing for reports, and O’Neill will appear for sentencing on 26 November.
