Gold and silver jewellery worth £10,000
A court's heard a man stole jewellery belonging to his friend's recently-deceased wife during a burglary.
Sixty-one-year-old Nigel Shaun Collister, of no fixed address, appeared before the Deputy High Bailiff at Douglas Courthouse.
He admitted two charges of burglary, between 11 and 20 September this year, at addresses in Ramsey and Andreas.
Prosecution advocate Rebecca Cubbon told the hearing Collister had befriended an 84-year-old widower and had been doing gardening work for him.
When the householder went to the UK Collister smashed a patio window and let himself into the house on Fairfield Avenue in Ramsey.
He stole gold and silver jewellery worth more than £10,000 - including a Rolex watch and engagement ring which had belonged to his friend's wife.
The court heard Collister had also stolen a gold watch during another burglary in Andreas.
He was committed to the Court of General Gaol Delivery for sentencing on 22 October and remanded in custody until that date.
