Paul Stephen Dowd of Douglas said he was 'bored'
A Douglas man who was caught by police breaking quarantine rules, went shopping and to the pub to watch the football.
Sixty-four-year-old Paul Stephen Dowd of Demesne Road, Douglas, was told to self-isolate following his return to the Island, from 1 - 15 August.
On the 7 August however, Dowd went to the Convenience Shopping Centre on Windsor Road, and then spent the evening in the Rosemount Pub watching the football and drinking.
The following night he took the bus to the Manx Arms, Onchan to watch a friend play live music, and drink amongst other patrons.
Later that night he posted to Facebook saying: 'I’VE BEEN OUT STUFF EM, GOODNIGHT ALL, STAY SAFE XX’.
When questioned by police on Tuesday, Dowd said he'd broken quarantine because he was 'bored'.
On Wednesday in court he pleaded guilty to breaking self-isolation, and was sentenced to six weeks in prison.
